Plaudits have to be given to Illan Meslier after the turmoil he’s been put through at Leeds United in the last few months.
The Leeds goalkeeper has gone through a difficult patch at the club recently.
The Hull City game was the breaking point for some as Meslier’s display for Leeds was called a ‘disaster’.
Daniel Farke was angry at Meslier as the Frenchman’s future at the Whites looked bleak in the transfer window.
However, since then, the 24-year-old has come on leaps and bounds.

Illan Meslier deserves his plaudits at Leeds after turn in form
Meslier has been brilliant for Leeds recently as their defensive record speaks volumes to the keeper’s turnaround.
Leeds have kept six consecutive clean sheets in all competitions as Meslier made sure of the sixth with a fantastic save in the Whites’ 2-0 win against Coventry City.
After the game, Joel Piroe labelled Meslier’s stop as ‘outstanding’ as these comments will do the Frenchman the world of good.

Where Illan Meslier ranks for save percentage in the Championship for Leeds
Despite Meslier’s Leeds tenure on the whole being fairly under-par, his resilience to fight back criticism has been nothing but professional.
Farke will clearly still have the belief in him after not dropping him for Karl Darlow, as Meslier has certainly got back into Leeds fans’ good books.
The improvement is clear, as not long ago, Meslier ranked 18th in the Championship for save percentage, but now he’s in a much more suitable position.
| Championship save percentage rankings | |
| 5th | Alex Palmer – 74.3% |
| 6th | Anthony Patterson – 71.8% |
| 7th | Oliver Dovin – 71.8% |
| 8th | Illan Meslier – 70.3% |
| 9th | Lukas Jensen – 70.0% |
There’s no doubt Meslier still has a lot to work on, but you have to admire the Frenchman’s mentality, as a 10-place step up in the rankings shows his revival at Leeds.
Farke will need reliability in the closing months of the Championship season, and if Meslier keeps this up, the Leeds boss will have nothing to worry about.
