Rodrigo Muniz is the man that Daniel Farke wants to bring to Leeds United this summer, but is there another obvious choice with more striking power?
At the start of the summer transfer window, it was claimed that Leeds United were interested in signing Muniz. But Fulham’s apparent £50m asking price has so far deterred clubs from signing the 23-year-old, with Leeds among the clubs to have a bid rejected for Muniz.
But as the start of the new season draws closer, so too does the end of the summer transfer window, reports linking Muniz with a move to West Yorkshire are quickly picking up. It is understood that Muniz remains Leeds United’s number one striker target this summer.
It is also reported that Serie A side Atalanta are confident they can sign Muniz this summer, having already had a £34.5m bid rejected.
With Muniz still unconfirmed, there is a free agent that Leeds United could target.

Jamie Vardy scored more goals than Rodrigo Muniz last season
Rodrigo Muniz is coming off a season where he had 8 goals and 1 assist in 31 appearances for Fulham in the 2024-25 Premier League season.
Jamie Vardy, on the other hand, had 9 goals and 4 assists in 35 appearances for Leicester City in the same Premier League campaign.
Vardy is a proven goalscorer with a Premier League Golden Boot to his name, and his experience leading the line for a newly-promoted team would be invaluable for Leeds.
Furthermore, Vardy’s style of play, characterised by his relentless pressing and intelligent movement, is a natural fit for a high-intensity system.
While Muniz is a promising talent, Vardy offers a more immediate and proven solution to Leeds’ attacking needs.

Leeds United’s past with Jamie Vardy
The rivalry between Jamie Vardy and Leeds United fans, particularly the “I Predict A Riot” taunts, is a testament to the passion and intensity of football fans.
In April 2024, after winning the Championship, a video emerged of Vardy and his Leicester City teammates celebrating by singing the Kaiser Chiefs song, a clear taunt directed at Leeds who had been their main rivals for the title. This followed Leeds fans singing the same song after a previous victory over Leicester.
If Vardy were to join Leeds, both sides would need to move past this history. For the fans, the focus must shift from past rivalries to future success.
Vardy’s professionalism and goalscoring ability would be a significant asset, and his proven track record in the Premier League is what matters most.
For Vardy, it would be a chance to demonstrate his commitment and win over a new fanbase with his performances on the pitch.
Ultimately, the shared goal of achieving success for Leeds United would be the binding force that overrides any past animosity.
