Predicted Leeds United XI to face Luton… Three changes as Daniel Farke hands out first start of the season

Daniel Farke’s Leeds United starting XI to face Luton Town is arguably the most difficult to predict of the season.

The Whites have no fresh injury concerns heading into the game but strong performances from both Dan James and Manor Solomon in the win at Swansea City make it very difficult for Farke to switch it up.

However, with Wilfried Gnonto, Mateo Joseph, Largie Ramazani and Max Wober all in reserve, there are a number of dilemmas in which he faces regarding team selection.

Farke hinted he could make changes to the Leeds side that won in South Wales Sunday afternoon due to the tight turnaround between matches, but with that will come some difficult calls.

Here is our predicted XI for the match.

Goalkeeper

Illan Meslier came in for some criticism after the game at Swansea but it is quite clear Farke won’t be dropping him.

Defence

It was a strange sight seeing Leeds concede three goals considering their defensive record since the opening day draw with Portsmouth, but Farke certainly won’t be panicking too much.

The only real decision facing Farke in the back four is who starts at left-back as Junior Firpo serves the last of three-match ban.

Sam Byram has been given the nod whenever Firpo has not been available this season, but Max Wober got his first league minutes of the season at Swansea and could be handed a start.

Jayden Bogle, Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk make up the remainder of the back four, as Rodon continues to walk the suspension tightrope.

Midfield

Ao Tanaka produced arguably his best display in a Leeds shirt on Sunday and received the player of the match from Lee Hendrie.

Partnering him once again in midfield will be Joe Rothwell, who will be hoping to see more of the ball tonight.

Attack

The front four is where Farke faces his hardest decisions after Solomon’s brace, James’ hattrick of assists and Gnonto’s winner off the bench.

In order to allow all three of those players to start, Farke could hand Brenden Aaronson a rest and move Gnonto into a more central role.

Mateo Joseph could also return to lead the line, with Joel Piroe once again proving ineffective in a match where he starts.
