Daniel Farke has already had to deal with his fair share of suspensions at Leeds United this season.
Both Junior Firpo and Jayden Bogle picked up their fifth yellow cards of the campaign last month and were therefore forced to sit out matches against Bristol City and Plymouth Argyle respectively.
Firpo was then handed another three-match ban following an incident shortly before full-time of the 1-0 defeat away at Millwall. Wednesday’s clash with Luton is the last game he will miss.
Once Firpo returns, Leeds aren’t quite off the suspension tightrope just yet as both Wilfried Gnonto and Joe Rodon are currently sat on four yellow cards.
Leeds can ill afford to be without either of those for even one game, with Gnonto‘s appearance from the bench at Swansea City the first game in which a starting XI hasn’t consisted of both players in the Championship this season.
Leeds duo Rodon and Gnonto closing on suspension cut-off
It feels like both Rodon and Gnonto have been sat on four yellow cards for a long time now, and that is because they have.
Rodon picked up his fourth booking of the season all the way back on October 4 away at Sunderland, with seven games having passed since then.
Gnonto, meanwhile, has gone four matches without a yellow card after being brandished his fourth of the campaign at Bristol City a month ago.
However, neither are out of the woods just yet as it is not until the gameweek number 19 (against Derby County) that the cut-off point for five yellow cards comes into place.
As such, Rodon and Gnonto still have three matches they need to get through in order to avoid picking up a suspension. Leeds face Luton Town, Blackburn Rovers and Derby in that run.
Providing they come through Luton and Blackburn, it is the match against Derby Farke will be praying they come through with any issues, as a huge clash with Middlesbrough awaits at Elland Road after.
How many yellow cards are other Leeds players on?
Thankfully, Rodon and Gnonto are the only two Leeds players in any real danger of picking up a suspension in the next couple of weeks.
There isn’t anyone sat on three yellow cards at the moment and so unless someone picks up a booking in each of Leeds’ next three, the rest will be fine.
Pascal Struijk, Ao Tanaka, Dan James and Sam Byram are the quartet of Leeds players currently sat on two, with Joe Rothwell on just the one.
