Keep track of Leeds United’s booking and suspension during the 2024/25 Championship season.

After the heartbreak of defeat in last season’s play-off final against Southampton, Leeds United have got back on the horse as they attempt to return to the Premier League.

Daniel Farke remains in charge and his side have gotten off to a strong start despite losing several star players in the summer transfer window.

The big games are coming thick and fast now and with plenty of competition, Leeds need to ensure they maintain their momentum in the title race.

One potential danger on the horizon is losing players to suspension. Leeds have already picked up a lot of yellow cards and have three players just a game away from a ban.

Here is all you need to know the Championship’s suspension rules and how many bookings Leeds have acquired.

Championship suspension rules

The FA states in its Essential Information For Players in 2024/25 guidebook: “Accumulating five, ten, fifteen or twenty Yellow Cards in league matches can result in an automatic ban in your relevant league.

“Accumulated Yellow Cards in cup competitions are treated separately and can result in an automatic ban from the cup competition in which the Yellow Cards were received.”

When is the yellow card cut off in the Championship?

There are various cut-off points throughout the season when hitting a particular milestone of yellow cards will no longer result in a ban.

In the Championship, the cut-off point for five yellow cards is after 19 fixtures, which won’t be reached until about early December.

The cut-off point for 10 bookings is after 37 fixtures, which should be hit around early March.

The cut-off point for 15 and 20 yellows is on the final day they do not role over into the play-offs.

Leeds United players close to suspension

The deadline for a one-match suspension for picking up five yellow cards has now passed, with Joe Rodon and Willy Gnonto avoiding a ban.

Howeber, Junior Firpo – who has already served a one-game ban for yellows and a three-game suspension for violent conduct – isn’t far off getting 10 bookings and being banned for another two games. He has seven bookings already.
