As Junior Firpo is likely to leave Leeds United this summer, Daniel Farke will be keen to find the ideal replacement.
It will be a huge loss to Leeds if Firpo departs in the summer transfer window and at the moment all signs are pointing that way.
The left-back’s exit has become more apparent now as Firpo’s agents say a Leeds stay is unlikely.
No doubt it would be a real shame if the Dominican Republic international left Elland Road, but Farke will have to start planning life without the 28-year-old.
However, a decision that was made in 2022 might come with regret as the perfect Firpo replacement was ready and waiting.

Leeds United sold Leif Davis for just £1m to Ipswich Town
It’s certainly a transfer that is labelled with regret as Leif Davis was on the books of Leeds.
With it only being a couple of seasons ago, Davis playing for Leeds will still be in the memory of most Whites fans.
Regret is certainly the word used for this deal as Davis impressed at Ipswich straight away after a £1m deal was agreed in the summer of 2022, and it was certainly a transfer that left fans scratching their head.
The 25-year-old had appeared for Leeds on numerous occasions when breaking through the academy, but with Leeds in the Premier League, the full-back just couldn’t find a place in the squad.
It was actually Firpo who seemingly took the opportunity away from Davis at Leeds, and now it’s proving to be a disastrous decision.
The Ipswich defender became a big reason why Kieran McKenna took the Tractor Boys to the Premier League, as Michael Bridges called Davis ‘absolutely incredible’.
Leeds will be stuck in the summer window and will need to resolve Firpo’s situation, and Davis will no doubt be a missed opportunity from the Whites.

How Davis would be perfect for Farke and Leeds in Firpo’s absence
You might suggest this comparison is a stab in the dark, but from this season’s statistics, Farke clearly loves an attacking full-back.
Firpo and Jayden Bogle have done this excellently, as the full-back partnership at Leeds is rare.
But Farke has nailed it to a tee, so to continue this success he will need to find the perfect Firpo replacement, and Davis has shown he does the attacking part of the game excellently.
Firpo has had a brilliant campaign, but looking at Davis in the 2023/24 Championship season, the Ipswich full-back puts him to shame.
| Firpo 24/25 – Leeds | Davis 23/24 – Ipswich | |
| Games played | 25 | 43 |
| Assists | 9 | 18 |
| Chances created | 38 | 125 |
| Cross accuracy % | 16.7% | 29% |
| Tackles won % | 50% | 75% |
Although Firpo will be a huge loss for Farke, Ipswich look likely to return to the Championship and Leeds should look into reuniting with Davis.
