Back in pre-season, Leif Davis was considered as a possible solution to Leeds United’s left-back woes by Jesse Marsch but instead, Davis was sold to Ipswich Town and now – he has an impressive 15 goals and assists this term.
With Junior Firpo picking up an injury against Blackpool, Davis was the only recognised left-back that travelled with the Leeds squad to Australia under Marsch in pre-season. He started in a 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa, in Brisbane.
But Leeds made the decision to sell him and stuck with Pascal Struijk on the left during the first part of the season. After four years, but only 14 senior outings for Leeds, Davis chose League One promotion hopefuls Ipswich Town.
It is a move that has paid off. Ipswich currently sit in second place and are closing in on automatic promotion to the Championship. With five games to go, they sit a point above Sheffield Wednesday – who have played an extra game.

Sold to Ipswich by Leeds; Leif Davis now has 15 goals and assists
Davis has been a crucial part of Ipswich’s success this term. He’s missed only three of Ipswich’s 41 League games, starting all 38 times. In that time, he has clocked up a huge 15 goals and assists – scoring three and creating 12.
Indeed, he reached that landmark on Saturday as Ipswich smashed Charlton to win 6-0. Davis netted his third of the season, while also nabbing an assist. The defender is finally showing what he can do when given the game time.
Was it the right decision by Leeds to sell Davis? He obviously had potential but he was never going to be given the game time to show what he could do at Elland Road. Now, he can shine for Ipswich and earn interest higher up.
