Leeds United are said to be in the market for a couple of new attacking players with the January transfer window fully open, but one of Daniel Farke’s old players could kill two birds with one stone.
Despite Daniel Farke claiming Leeds will have a quiet window, reports say Leeds want a striker while Graham Smyth expects Leeds to go after a no.10 having failed to get one in the summer transfer window.
Patrick Bamford and Joe Gelhardt could leave in January, while Brenden Aaronson has started 24 games in a row for Leeds. So a new striker and a no.10 could be targeted by Farke’s side in the next few weeks.
But one player that Farke knows well, having signed him while Norwich manager for a fee of £9.4m, could fill both roles. Reports say English clubs are interested in signing the player before the January deadline.
Daniel Farke should try and sign Milot Rashica again at Leeds
Bought in the summer of 2021 by Farke at Norwich, Kosovo international Milot Rashica joined Farke’s Norwich with the Canaries in the Premier League. But a few months later and Farke had been sacked.
Rashica went on to play for times for Norwich and had a hand in five goals, in a poor Norwich side in England’s top tier. He is now with Besiktas, joining the Turkish side in the summer of 2023 from Norwich.
Now, Turkish site Fotospor say English clubs are interested in signing Rashica and while Besiktas do not want to sell him, they will let him go if the price is right though however much that is, remains unknown.
Leeds reportedly made bid to sign Milot Rashica in 2024
Now, Rashica is naturally a winger and Leeds are well-stocked on either flank. But Rashica is the kind of player that can play as a no.10 or even as a striker by himself, given his speed and his eye for goal.
A few days after the January window in 2024, it was claimed that Leeds had tabled a £6m bid to sign Rashica from Besiktas just six months after his move to the Turkish giants which had been rejected.
But with English clubs now eyeing Rashica, a player that Farke once labelled “excellent”, then Leeds and Farke must throw themselves into the mix. Rashica may feel he has unfinished business under Farke.
