Leeds United could soon be looking for a new manager amid serious doubts over Daniel Farke.
Leeds United News understands The 49ers are aware of concerns over the German from within the fanbase, after the 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa plunged the Whites into the relegation zone.
The 49ers are spoilt for choice… but who would you pick as Leeds United’s next manager?
Brendan Rodgers and Ange Postecoglou have been linked as potential replacements for Daniel Farke – but a manager Brenden Aaronson admires in Steven Gerrard has now been backed for the job too.
Brenden Aaronson admires Steven Gerrard amid Sam Allardyce prediction
Allardyce has tipped Gerrard to replace Farke, telling the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast: “Yeah, I can see Steven Gerrard (happening) – on the connection with the ownership.”
If that does end up happening, Aaronson will presumably be pleased.
The United States international has previously expressed his admiration for Gerrard during an interview with Sky Sports, saying: “As long as I can remember I’ve been a Liverpool fan. I have Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres posters in my room, those two were the ones I looked up to. I have Liverpool winning the Champions League above my bed too.
“I think we’re a little different in positioning (him and Gerrard) but I used to see him go into games and giving it his all every game. He was winning challenges, playing the ball forward, scoring goals – he really was the complete midfielder and that’s something I want to bring into my game. He was tireless and gave everything for the team and that’s something I really like about him.”
Leeds United fans told they’re being unfair on Brenden Aaronson 🗣️
Aaronson has been criticised for his displays under Farke, so perhaps the appointment of a personal hero in Gerrard would be enough to spark some improvement from the American.
Steven Gerrard appointment could also reignite Kalvin Phillips links
Leeds have been linked to Kalvin Phillips as Pep Guardiola continues to overlook the England international at Manchester City.
The ‘Yorkshire Pirlo’ has played just seven minutes of football so far this season, coming at the end of a Carabao Cup win over Huddersfield.
The Manchester City outcast has also previously expressed his adoration for Gerrard, saying: “If I had to choose between them (Paul Gascoigne and Gerrard)… I am going to go with Steven Gerrard, just because I grew up watching him and have seen how well he has done over the years with Liverpool and with England.”
Therefore, the chances of Phillips returning to Elland Road could increase if Leeds make this appointment, in our view at least.
