It is harsh on Daniel Farke, but plenty of Leeds United fans have already discussed who they would like in the dugout with Farke’s sack inevitable – and now, Sam Allardyce has suggested a name.
After five defeats in six and with Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool up next, things look bleak for Farke. The run of form has seen Leeds slip into the bottom three and the chances of escaping relegation are slim.
The 49ers are spoilt for choice… but who would you pick as Leeds United’s next manager?
While there was sympathy for Farke and credit in the bank after Leeds failed to bring in the attackers he publicly requested, his in-game tactics and constant usage of Brenden Aaronson has angered supporters.
Farke has chosen to be reactive instead of proactive and it has cost Leeds points in their last two games, with Sean Dyche and Unai Emery making moves first. In both games, substitutions changed the game.
LeedsUnited.News understands that despite massive fan pressure, the 49ers won’t make any knee-jerk decisions, though they are assessing Farke’s job. Sam Allardyce has suggested a possible replacement.

Sam Allardyce thinks he knows who the 49ers could now appoint
With no announcement made on Farke, there has been little in the way of reports on a possible new manager or targets that the 49ers may have. But Steven Gerrard boasts a short price with the bookies.
Gerrard recently turned down a return to Rangers, the 49ers left frustrated before eventually hiring Danny Rohl. Now, there is a chance the 49ers go back in for Gerrard, but this time as manager of Leeds United.
Presenter Natalie Pike said to Allardyce: “Here’s my wild speculation. Steven Gerrard, everybody knows that Rangers spoke to him. He didn’t take the Rangers job, despite the fact that he’s loved up there.
Daniel Farke is statistically Leeds’ worst Premier League manager 📉
“Perhaps his record since Rangers is questionable. Do you think that the owners of Leeds and Rangers are lining up Steven Gerrard to take over from Daniel Farke? What do you think of my wild speculation?”
Allardyce responded, on his No Tippy Tappy Football podcast: “I don’t think it’s wild speculation. No, I don’t. Especially when they’re connected in terms of the ownership and where this happened before.
“That’s something that he’s looking for, isn’t it? You know what I mean?” Yeah, I can see Steven Gerrard. On the connection with the ownership, when he wants to get back in, be a very, very big club for him.”

Ally McCoist also suggested Steven Gerrard, but there’s an issue
Allardyce is not the only pundit to suggest Gerrard as a replacement for Farke, with Ally McCoist putting Gerrard’s name out there as a potential suitor to replace the current Leeds manager. But there is an issue.
It stems from Gerrard’s time in the Saudi Pro League, working as manager of Gini Wijnaldum’s Al Ettifaq. TalkSPORT say that if Gerrard returns to the United Kingdom for work before April, he will owe 45%.
Whether Gerrard is willing to repay that amount of cash, or chooses to wait it out remains to be seen. But when it comes to the world of management, the longer on the sidelines, the jobs start to dry up.
