‘Will fight’: Leeds United now ready to do everything to keep ‘exceptional’ player in January

Leeds United are now ready to ‘fight everything’ to ensure Crysencio Summerville stays in January.

That is according to journalist Dean Jones, who told Give Me Sport of Leeds’ happiness that Summerville remained at Elland Road in the summer, with the Whites now very much reaping the rewards.

Summerville had interest from a host of Premier League clubs and according to Fabrizio Romano, Leeds even rejected a £20 million offer from Burnley for his services.

As per Phil Hay, Summerville and his representatives felt it was the right decision not to push for a move away from Leeds, particularly with Daniel Farke making it clear he would be a key part of the team.

However, that has not stopped Premier League clubs from already taking a look ahead of January, with Romano reporting that Premier League clubs are already beginning to circle.

Leeds to ‘fight everything’ to keep Summerville

Transfer insider Jones, though, says Leeds are ready to do anything they can to ensure the ‘exceptional’ Summerville remains at the club after such a good start to the season.

“Leeds were very, very pleased with how he decided to stay with them. He’s been very focused on trying to get Leeds back to where they want to be.

“I think that it helps Leeds that things are starting to go well because if they weren’t going well, I think it would be almost certain that Summerville would be snapped up if he was putting in these individual performances and the team weren’t getting results.

“But as it is, Leeds will fight everything they can to keep hold of him.”

Summerville has to stay at Leeds beyond January

Leeds are looking increasingly like they are going to be in a promotion battle this season and so to sell any of their key players at the midway point of the season would be disastrous.

However, if these latest reports are to be correct, it sounds like Leeds recognise that fact and so just like in the summer, any bid they receive needs to be rejected immediately.

From Summerville’s perspective, he arguably has a better chance of playing in the Premier League next season with Leeds, than he would if he went to Burnley.
