The latest Leeds United target is one Daniel Farke knows well having signed him previously at Norwich City, but that is not where the familiarity stops between Bali Mumba and Leeds.
Leeds United have been linked with a whole host of players with the January transfer window now in full flow. The latest of which, is Plymouth’s versatile full-back Bali Mumba who has impressed during 2024-25.
While Plymouth have struggled to shine, Mumba has shown versatility and proved to be an attacking outlet from wing-back for Argyle during their fight against relegation from the Championship this term.
LeedsUnited.News understands Leeds sent scouts to watch Mumba on Saturday in their shock 1-0 away win over Brentford, with Morgan Whittaker scoring the only goal of the game from the edge of the area.

According to FotMob, Mumba is Plymouth’s fifth-best performing player. But one that has played at right-back, left-back and on either side of a 3-4-3 system and of course, one to play under boss Farke.
Farke actually signed Mumba from Sunderland in 2020, and was handed his Premier League and Carabao Cup debuts by the German gaffer. Farke actually described Mumba as a “really exciting” talent at Norwich.
So, Mumba could reunite with Farke at Leeds and the player has already given his verdict on Elland Road. Speaking to Plymouth’s website, he said the home of Leeds as “exciting” and commented on Leeds fans.
“It’s always good to play there. We’ve played there a few times now. The atmosphere there is always good, the fans are always up for it. It’s always an exciting place to go,” Mumba told Plymouth’s website.
Leeds might not need Bali Mumba now, but they will in summer
Mumba is a talent, a player that would thrive off being in a side that plays on the front foot – just as Junior Firpo and Jayden Bogle do. Leeds currently have four recognised options at full-back under Farke.
Firpo and Bogle are first choice, while Sam Byram is first replacement should either Firpo or Bogle are unavailable. Firpo is back in Leeds training, it’s likely he starts against Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday.
But Firpo and Byram are out of contract in the summer, even if Byram says he would love to sign a new contract at Elland Road. It might be that in six months’ time, Leeds have to replace two of four full-backs.
Signing Mumba helps them do that, whichever division The Whites find themselves in. A player that Farke knows he can trust, and one that has impressed in the Championship despite playing in a poor side.
