Leeds United’s newest transfer target is a player that Daniel Farke knows well having handed him his Premier League debut, describing him as a “really exciting” player with huge potential.

Fast forward until now and Leeds manager Daniel Farke continues to tell supporters to expect a quiet January window, even if he did hint at possibly signing a striker and maybe another signing elsewhere.

Leeds continue to be linked with a number of different players in different positions as the club look to go and secure promotion at the second attempt, having fallen at the final hurdle during 2023-24.

Leeds only signed one player last January in Connor Roberts, while Ipswich signed a handful of crucial players that got them over the line. Farke might say one thing, but surely he will want new signings.

Daniel Farke’s “really exciting” take on Leeds target Bali Mumba

LeedsUnited.News understands that Leeds are interested in raiding Plymouth Argyle to sign versatile full-back Bali Mumba. Leeds scouts were in attendance on Saturday to watch Mumba play against Brentford.

Plymouth produced arguably the shock of the round as the Championship’s bottom club managed to beat mid-table Premier League side Brentford away from home thanks to a late Morgan Whittaker strike.

Mumba has clocked up 121 appearances for Plymouth since joining the club on loan in 2022 and signing permanently in 2023. Signed by Farke at Norwich in 2020 from Sunderland, he gave his verdict.

Telling Norwich’s website after Mumba’s arrival, Farke said: “We’re really happy we’ve been able to sign Bali. He’s an exciting young talent. He’s the type of full-back we want, driving forward and being brave.

“But also aggressive against the ball and with good endurance. He’s a great lad and full of potential. We’ll give him time to improve and we think we’ve got a really exciting talent,” Farke said on target Mumba.

Bali Mumba is impressing in a faltering Plymouth side this season

While Plymouth are really struggling after a dismal first half to the season under now-sacked Wayne Rooney, Mumba has been one of a few rare shining lights in this Argyle side that are fighting relegation.

Able to play on either side of the defence whether that be as a full-back, or a wing-back in a three-man defence, Mumba has started 23 of Plymouth’s 26 Championship games and come on as a sub twice.

Mumba was handed not only his Premier League debut by Farke, but also his Carabao Cup debut as well. FotMob claim he is Plymouth’s fifth-best player this season and now, Farke is looking to take advantage.
