Having won promotion to the Premier League, Daniel Farke was under pressure despite securing the Championship title with the most points secured in a season, in Leeds United’s history.
Leeds spoke to Davide Ancelotti, Roger Schmidt and Giovanni van Bronckhorst. Ancelotti has since gone to Brazil with his dad Carlo, becoming Botafogo boss. Van Bronckhorst is on Liverpool’s coaching staff.
Richard Keys said Jose Mourinho said no to Leeds, and that is why Paraag Marathe came out and publicly backed Farke. Since then, Farke has remained, bringing in 10 players and winning eight league points.
It should be more. Leeds have conceded two injury-time goals and on Saturday, Farke said Leeds should have beaten Spurs. Had they beaten Spurs and not conceded after 90 minutes, they’d have 14 points.

What Leeds’ board think of Daniel Farke’s start to 2025-26
According to Leeds Live, the Leeds hierarchy and Marathe are happy and satisfied with Leeds’ start to the season even if Leeds currently sit in 15th, only four points above the Premier League relegation zone.
It is claimed that the board are aware Leeds have come close to beating Bournemouth or drawing at Fulham, and are understanding that there will be tough periods, especially during the winter period.
The Leeds board have also appreciated a year-long unbeaten record at Elland Road in the league. Until Saturday, Leeds had not lost at home for 23 games, last losing to Burnley 1-0 back in September 2024.

Paraag Marathe has now sacked his first manager in football
If asked for the name of the manager to be sacked first by Marathe, after appointing Russell Martin at Rangers, it would have been a lot easier to predict Farke as the first man to be sacked by Marathe.
But after Sunday’s dismal 1-1 draw against Falkirk and after a 2-1 defeat to Sturm Graz in the Europa League, Martin has received his marching orders. Martin has won just one Premiership game all season.
A dismal spell in charge of Joe Rothwell’s Rangers and Marathe will now be on the hunt to appoint a new manager at Ibrox. But for now, Farke remains with the German contract at Elland Road until June 2027.
