Hammarby sporting director Mikael Hjelmberg has confirmed that the Swedish side have received bids for Leeds United target Nathaniel Adjei – with Leeds likely to bring in a number of defenders.
Adjei, 21, has been strongly linked with a moe to Leeds after impressing for Swedish side Hammarby over the last 12 months. Plenty of clubs are keen to bring the Ghanaian to English football this month.
Sunderland and Ipswich Town have been linked, but Leeds are said to have held a meeting over a deal for the defender last week. It is unclear how that meeting went. But Leeds need to sign some defenders.
Luke Ayling is set to join Middlesbrough, while Djed Spence has returned to Spurs. Charlie Cresswell is a target for Sunderland, Rangers, Ipswich and Boro. Leeds need to make signings in defence this month.
A move for Adjei, though, looks unlikely. That is because Hammarby’s sporting director Hjelmberg says while the Swedish side have received bids for the £4m-rated man, they have rejected those offers.
“Received offers for all three, but we’ve declined. We would like to see them remain in Hammarby. We’ve had a pretty open and good dialogue with the players about that,” Hjelmberg told Fotbollskanalen.

Leeds are expected to be in the market for new defenders but a move for Adjei does not seem as likely as other targets. It is believed that Leeds will pursue moves for Connor Roberts and Chris Mepham.
Adjei can play as a right-back and as a centre-back but it looks like Leeds will move for others. The two aforementioned names play for Wales National Team with Joe Rodon, Ethan Ampadu and Dan James.
