Leeds United now trying to beat Ipswich Town to sign £4m player, transfer meeting held this week

Charlie Cresswell is being linked with the exit door this month as he continues to struggle for game time at Leeds United – and now, Leeds are set to hold talks this week for a potential replacement.

Daniel Farke said after the win over Birmingham that it is down to Cresswell over whether he wants to stay at Leeds, or go on loan. The likes of Rangers, Southampton and Middlesbrough are all interested.

The next few days could prove decisive for Cresswell, who has only been a part of the matchday squad three times in our last 16 League games. That is despite Leeds being without Pascal Struijk on Saturday.

So, Cresswell could go and he could need replacing. That might be Nathaniel Adjei, with the Ghanaian rock starring for Swedish side Hammarby. We have already been linked with Adjei, as have Sunderland.

Now, an update ahead of a potential move for Adjei. A report from trusted Leeds site LUFC Fan Zone claims we have scheduled a meeting to discuss a price for Adjei – who is rated between £3m and £4m.

Ipswich and Millwall are also interested, but Leeds are the first interested party to schedule talks with Hammarby over a deal for Adjei. It is also stated that personal terms will not be a problem for Leeds.

So, it looks as if Leeds are already preparing for life without Cresswell and in doing so, are bringing in a replacement in the form of Adjei – or attempting to do so. A smart signing, a player full of potential.

But if Leeds can help it, surely it would make sense to keep Cresswell permanently and just let him go on loan – rather than cashing in. Cresswell has huge promise, and he is Leeds, through and through.
