Daniel Farke has confirmed that Leeds United are “working” on a deal for Joe Rodon permanently but a move to land the Welshman beyond his loan from Tottenham is not deemed an urgent one.
Rodon, 26, has been crucial for Leeds this season – helping the Whites keep 10 clean sheets in his 25 games for Daniel Farke. Leeds fans, understandably, are desperate to keep Rodon beyond his loan spell.
Spurs are open to Rodon’s exit, but a fee of £20m is required. It is also claimed that Leeds may have to wait until the summer due to the financial awards of promotion – and that may see interest grow further.
Phil Hay said today that Leeds may be waiting to make a move as Rodon is yet to do it in the Premier League so far – although, he has hardly been given a fair shot. Hay then asked Farke about Rodon today.
He asked the Leeds gaffer if the Whites are tempted to do a deal for the Wales star this month instead of waiting until the summer – to avoid possible interest from other clubs, and tie him down permanently.
“Behind the scenes, we are working. There is no doubt we are more than happy with Joe. He is growing into this club more and more, a leader role, you see how much it means to him to wear this white shirt.
“He is just happy to be her. He is crucial. We are more than happy. We would like him to stay for a bit longer, but right now it is not an urgent topic – he will stay for us until the end of the season,” he said.

Yes, there may be some doubts regarding Rodon’s ability to it in the Premier League. But you would argue he is probably the best central defender in the Championship right now. That is a good reason.
As good a reason to take the risk and give him the chance to shine in the Premier League, as he is in the Championship. Rodon needs to be signed but if it means we must wait until the summer, then so be it.
