Sevilla and Leeds United could do business before deadline day. The Spanish club have a striker in Kelechi Iheanacho who they want to offload, and the Whites are reportedly keen.
Kelechi Iheanacho could be on his way back to England, just half-a-season after leaving the country to go join Sevilla on a free transfer.
The Nigerian striker left Leicester City as a free agent in the summer. But he’s found the going tough in Spain with no goals in nine La Liga appearances this season.
His manager, Garcia Pimienta, says Iheanacho is free to leave Sevilla before deadline day. Soon after Daniel Farke’s side were first linked, it was then claimed that Leeds United were set to sign Iheanacho.
He’s available to leave Sevilla as a free agent and he could become Leeds’ first signing of the January transfer window.

Victor Orta discusses Kelechi Iheanacho’s Sevilla future amid Leeds United links
On Tuesday, former Leeds United director of football Victor Orta spoke to the press as Sevilla announced the signing of striker Akor Adams; a move that strongly suggests Iheanacho is leaving the club before the February 3rd transfer deadline. Now Sevilla’s sporting director, Orta even gave an update on Iheanacho and confirmed that the 29-year-old had received offers to move.
“The club has received some offers that we have forwarded to him and he is evaluating, like the rest of the players, what would be his best option, there is still a week left,” he told Diario de Sevilla. “I think that the three positions could be close and it is a question of the player being able to choose his best option for these six months.”
Then, Orta discussed Iheanacho’s form since arriving at Sevilla in the summer. Orta wasn’t shy in saying Iheanacho needs to be performing better this season, but insisted that the former Manchester City player is one of ‘quality’.
“I said it in the previous press conference, it is clear that we all expect a better performance from Iheanacho, I think that the performances have nothing to do with the quality of the footballer,” Orta continued. “In fact, he is having interest from other teams. Right now the market is open, he knows his situation, I think he wants to play more because he has that feeling that he believes he can still contribute more, we will see what happens until Monday.”

Transfer expert comments on Kelechi Iheanacho to Leeds United
Iheanacho has been quite strongly linked with Leeds in the last week or so, perhaps even stronger than anyone after reports that he was set to sign for the Whites.
And transfer expert Graeme Bailey has commented on Iheanacho to Leeds as well. He told Leeds United News recently: “Leeds have been linked with a lot of players – Iheanacho? Well, they’re pretty happy with where they are and what they’ve got but they are prepared to wait right until the end of the window. We’ll see what happens in the next few days, more players are becoming available.”
It could indicate that Leeds have several strikers on their radar and are waiting for the right deal and the right player to come along.
There’s no doubting Iheanacho’s quality, with an impressive 61 goals in 232 games for Leicester City, so Leeds might just be waiting on the offer.
Bur with offers in, with one possibly coming from Leeds, it’s now down to Iheanacho.
