Just a few days remain in this January transfer window. There’s bound to be a horde of players on the move in Europe, and for Leeds United, one of their reported targets may have played his last game for his current club.
Leeds United could surprise everyone and have a very busy final few days of the transfer window. Whether that’s likely or not is up for debate, but Daniel Farke could certainly do with some new faces.
On Monday night, Leeds drew 0-0 with Burnley. The Whites remain in 1st place of the Championship table and remain unbeaten in 2025, but there’s a sense that Leeds may lack that final bit of cutting edge in the race for promotion.
Fans want to see some new signings. Leeds United haven’t signed a single player in this January transfer window, although several are linked with moves to Elland Road.
Of late, former Liverpool and Arsenal man Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has emerged as a target for Farke’s side. He currently plays for Turkish SuperLig side Besiktas.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain facing Besiktas exile under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Oxlade-Chamberlain, now 31 years old, has a horde of clubs on alert ahead of deadline day. Leeds United are interested in Oxlade-Chamberlain but the Whites face Premier League competition in the race for his signature.
It’s claimed that high-flyers Nottingham Forest are keen on Oxlade-Chamberlain, along with the likes of West Ham, Crystal Palace and more. His situation has become contested after featuring just six times in the league for Besiktas this season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the new manager at Besiktas. But Oxlade-Chamberlain may have played his one and only game for the former Manchester United box, with Oxlade-Chamberlain not even registered in Besiktas’ Europa League squad.
The Turkish side face FC Twente in Europe on Thursday night and don’t play again until after deadline day.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s stance on selling Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain amid Leeds United links
Solskjaer seems to be planning some big changes at Besiktas in the long-run, but maybe not in the short-term. Speaking to Leeds United News recently, transfer expert Graeme Bailey revealed that Solskjaer wants to keep Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Bailey said: “[He is] not leaving Besiktas. I understand that with Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] going in there, a player he likes. He was a bit out of the picture earlier this season.
“But Solskjaer doesn’t want to lose him. It’s one of those where a new manager has come in, likes him a lot. He #might have been an option, but not now. He could be an option in the summer but it depends.”
Oxlade-Chamberlain though may well force a move from Turkey in the coming days. With some exciting clubs eyeing the winger, and game time at Besiktas still limited, Solskjaer may have a tough conversation with Oxlade-Chamberlain coming up.
Where the former England international ends up playing beyond the February 3rd deadline remains anyone’s guess.
