Leeds United have the chance to go back to the top of the Championship table for the third time in three games with a win against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday afternoon, at Ewood Park.

Leeds propelled themselves to the Championship’s summit on both occasions after beating Swansea and then Luton Town. But on Friday, Sheffield United returned to the top thanks to a win over Sunderland.

Perhaps it doesn’t come as a surprise, but Leeds, Sheffield United and Burnley are currently looking like the three most-likely sides to go up. Daniel Farke, Chris Wilder and Scott Parker have done it before.

Leeds need to beat Blackburn to leapfrog Sheffield United today, but Farke will know his record against the Blackburn manager is not good. Indeed, Farke lost twice to John Eustace last season, for two clubs.

Daniel Farke makes two changes as Manor Solomon rested

It was expected that Farke was going to make a couple of changes. Junior Firpo is back after serving a three-game suspension and with Sam Byram coming off on Wednesday with an injury, Firpo returns.

Even if Byram was fit, the chances are he would not have been risked with Firpo back. Meanwhile, Farke’s rotation among his wingers continues with Manor Solomon the latest to drop out of the starting XI.

The Israel skipper scored a brace for Leeds at Swansea before playing for 90 minutes against Luton. Understandably, the £54k-a-week Tottenham man is rested, and in comes Dan James from the start.

Confirmed XI: Illan Meslier, Jayden Bogle, Joe Rodon, Pascal Struijk, Junior Firpo; Ao Tanaka, Joe Rothwell; Dan James, Brenden Aaronson, Wilfried Gnonto; Joel Piroe.

Subs: Karl Darlow, James Debayo, Max Wober, Charlie Crew, Josuha Guilavogui, Largie Ramazani, Manor Solomon, Mateo Joseph, Patrick Bamford.
