Leeds United go to Ewood Park on Saturday afternoon with a win required to go back to the top of the Championship table, but Daniel Farke will not be encouraged by the man in the opposite dugout.

Sheffield United’s late 1-0 win over promotion rivals Sunderland on Friday night at Bramall Lane saw the Whites removed from the Championship summit again, Tom Davies scoring the only goal of the game.

So, for Leeds to get back to the top of the table again, they are required to beat Blackburn away from home on Saturday at the unusual kick-off time of 1.30pm. Leeds beat Blackburn at Ewood Park last term.

Dan James and Crysencio Summerville scored a goal in each half against Blackburn in December 2023. But, The Whites then lost at home to Blackburn – the first home defeat of the season – in April 2024.

Daniel Farke lost twice to Blackburn boss John Eustace last term

Interestingly, Leeds and Farke faced Blackburn manager John Eustace on two occasions last season – but for two different clubs. Farke and Leeds lost both matches as Eustace secured two 1-0 wins against Leeds.

The first was while Eustace was still manager of Birmingham City, prior to the Blues’ bizarre decision to ace Eustace and hire Wayne Rooney. Lukas Jutkiewicz scored an injury-time penalty for Birmingham City.

Eustace was not installed as Blackburn manager when Leeds beat Rovers at Ewood Park in December 2023, but he was the man in the dugout who masterminded Blackburn’s 1-0 win at Elland Road in April.

Leeds United’s record against Blackburn over the last 10 meetings

So, Farke lost both meetings against Eustace last season and that will be in the back of the German’s mind on Saturday in Lancashire. But Leeds can take confidence from their last 10 games against Blackburn.

Leeds come into the game after winning their last three, beating QPR before the November break and then since beating both Swansea and Luton. Blackburn have secured wins in their last two outings.

But it came after a run of three straight losses, beating Cardiff and then securing an impressive 1-0 away win over Michael Carrick’s Middlesbrough on Wednesday. Two in-form teams then, set to do battle today.
