Bryan Gil is set to leave Tottenham Hotspur this month and could go on a permanent basis if new reports are to believed – and Leeds United simply have to take advantage of his bargain price tag.
Gil, 22, returned to Tottenham after a second loan spell in the summer – at his boyhood club Sevilla. But it has not proved to be enough to earn a starting spot under Ange Postecoglou. He is still on the fringes.
The Spaniard has only managed nine Premier League outings this term, only two of which have been from the start. He needs another move, with his transfer to Spurs clearly not working out three years in.
Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo say Spurs want a fee of £7m for Gil in order to offload the attacker this month. A bargain, for a player with huge potential – that needs a new long-term project elsewhere.
He needs to join a club that will allow him to play with flair, with expression, in an attacking side where he will be given the confidence to shine. We meanwhile, need a 10 after failing to get one last summer.

Nadiem Amiri and Matt O’Riley were targeted but neither pursuits ended in a deal. Instead, Leeds have used striker Joel Piroe as a 10. Recently, dropping Georginio Rutter into the role behind Patrick Bamford.
Gil has been used mostly as a winger but he is the kind of attacking talent that can play on either flank, or as a 10 and sparkle. Leeds and Spurs have a solid partnership too, and that would help strike a deal.
Gretar Steinsson swapped Spurs for the Leeds transfer department in the summer, and Leeds have since signed Joe Rodon and Djed Spence – with Spence returning, and then links with Ben Davies.
If Gil is available for as little as £7m, then Leeds need to take advantage and bring him to the club. The last time we had a Spaniard in attacking midfield, it went pretty well – didn’t it?
