Tottenham Hotspur star Ben Davies has emerged as an unlikely target for Leeds United this month as the Whites look to recruit a new left-sided defender – and Joe Rodon is a massive fan of him.
Davies, 30, has spent the last 10 years at Tottenham and is just three games shy of a huge 500 games for club and country already, at this stage in his career. He has played 327 games for the London club.
Another 85 for Swansea, and the same amount in Wales caps. He is about to enter the last 12 months of his Spurs deal. Leeds could look to take advantage, though a deal is deemed very unlikely, at this stage.
Davies remains a key player at Spurs. Even if not first choice on the left of the defence behind Destiny Udogie, or on the left side of central defence, behind Micky van der Ven. He’s played 16 times this term.
So, Leeds could make an ambitious move for Davies – a move that would see him team up with some of his Wales teammates. Rodon says Davies produced one of the “best things” he’s ever seen in football.
Back in 2021, Wales were knocked out by Denmark in the second round – as Rodon and Davies came up against Spurs teammate Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. Rodon, as per Football London, recalled a 50-50 tackle.

“I’m not shirking it but I’ve seen this guy go into 50-50s and he comes out with everything, shin pads, boots, everything,” Rodon said when discussing Davies as per Football London, speaking back in 2022.
“A prime example is Wales vs Denmark in the European Championships, him and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg going in for a 50-50, it’s one of the best things I’ve ever seen. Ben won,” Rodon recalled, with Davies.
Davies is a Premier League player and a very good one at that. As loyal as they come and Spurs will be desperate to keep him. But, the temptation to play with his Wales teammates at Leeds could tempt him.
