The Championship is once again proving to be a difficult league for Leeds United to get out of.
Just like last campaign, there is serious competition for promotion this season, and it’s going to go right down to the wire.
You’d suspect Leeds are the current favourites, but Sheffield United are making a statement after recent performances.
This has been every fault of Leeds though who have only managed to win one game in four.
Chris Wilder says Leeds are wrongly positioned, but they lead the race in what is turning out to be a cursed season for Daniel Farke.

How Leeds United are cursed in the Championship
You might think it is slightly exaggerated that Leeds are cursed in this league, but even despite a solid campaign they still aren’t yet home and dry.
The standard of the Championship has been exemplified as Wilder called the competition for promotion ‘ridiculous’ and that couldn’t be closer to the truth.
But this isn’t the only factor that sees Leeds still crawling to the finish line, as there has been a frightening finding revealed.
Leeds’ luck is proven as the past two seasons has seen a serious increase in points haul from third place after 38 games.
This season Burnley sit on 78 in 3rd, whereas last campaign it was 81 by this stage, and past seasons when Leeds haven’t been in the division it’s always been around the last 60 early 70 mark.
Ultimately showing that the standard of the league always seems to be at an all-time high when Leeds are involved.
| Championship points haul in third place after 38 games in the last five seasons | |
| 24/25 | Burnley: 78 points |
| 23/24 | Ipswich: 81 points |
| 22/23 | Middlesbrough: 67 points |
| 21/22 | Huddersfield: 63 points |
| 20/21 | Swansea City: 72 points |
Leeds must retain status in Premier League for a long period if promoted
It seems like the blatantly obvious, but this statistic proves how agonising the Championship can be for Leeds.
The Whites never have a dull season in the second tier and once again this season is proving why.
With the 49ers keen on Premier League targets, the Leeds owners must get everything right if promoted, helping them retain their status for a period longer than five years at the least.
If they can’t better there last period of just three seasons, then questions will asked of the ownership no doubt.
