Chris Wilder says Leeds United are in the wrong position after bizarre Championship admission

It seems difficult for Chris Wilder to take positives in a humble way as Leeds United fans won’t appreciate what he’s said.

The Sheffield United boss has found it a struggle to stop talking about Leeds this season.

He’s proving to use his same old tricks, as Wilder’s mind games on Leeds returned.

It’s been a long season of back and forth between both clubs but after the international break ends, bragging rights will be decided.

For now though, Wilder believes his side are unfairly positioned in the current Championship standings.

Chris Wilder says Leeds United are wrongly positioned in the Championship

You wouldn’t think the Blades manager would show any signs of praise in the run-in, but Wilder has called Leeds’ standard ‘ridiculous’ claiming how close it’s been all season.

This is a statement where he is correct as the Championship’s top three seems to be going right down to the wire for the second season running.

Leeds will hope they come out on top this time after last campaign’s failures, but Wilder feels Sheffield’s position isn’t justified.

The Blades would be top had they not been demoted two points at the start of the season for financial reasons in the 2022/23 season.

This has lead to Wilder claiming that Sheffield United are ‘top’ to SUTV, even though if the season ended now, Daniel Farke’s side would be crowned Champions

“We should be clear at the top of the table,” Wilder said.

“Nobody is talking about us going top and would have gone even further ahead with the two points added on that we should have.”

Wilder won’t stop using excuse if Leeds win Championship

After these comments, it’s become apparent where Wilder will be aiming his next excuse if the Blades fail in their bid for the Championship title.

No doubt both managers will be thrilled if promotion is achieved, but it’s clear the fight is for the title.

This has now left Wilder with the easy excuse if Sheffield United miss out by a point or two, as he’ll claim the deduction wasn’t justified despite clear rules being broken.

The Whites will have to focus on staying in the top two, as Michael Brown still fancies Leeds for the title despite the QPR draw.

A break might be the best thing for Leeds, as both clubs will be preparing for what could be a Championship all-timer ending to the season.
