Four years after leaving England to move to Italy, striker Tammy Abraham could be on his way back, and he could make a sensational return to the Premier League with Leeds United.

After Leeds United’s 3-1 win at Sheffield United on Monday night, many are now expecting the Whites to return to the Premier League for next season, and to do so as Championship title-winners.

It’d be a third Championship title for manager Daniel Farke who’s silenced a lot of his Elland Road doubters with two really strong performance against Sunderland and Sheffield United respectively.

Leeds still have 12 games to play though and so promotion isn’t guaranteed, but it would be a travesty if Leeds aren’t promoted now. Should they be retuning to the top flight then they’d need a lot of reinforcements, with the top flight proving ever more difficult for promoted teams.

One striker on Leeds’ transfer radar is Tammy Abraham. It’s been reported that Leeds United are interested in Abraham who’s currently on loan at AC Milan from Roma, with a number of Premier League teams also keeping tabs on the 27-year-old.

Graeme Bailey comments on Tammy Abraham to Leeds United

Speaking exclusively to Leeds United News, transfer expert Graeme Bailey has weighed in on Abraham’s links to Elland Road, explaining that Abraham is keen to make his return to the Premier League but that signing him won’t be an easy job for Leeds United.

He says: “Leeds are very much leaning on their Premier League list when it comes to summer targets, it is not about being over-confident, but realistic, and they know if they want to stay up next season they have to get their plans in place as early as possible.

“They already know they need a striker and they are doing their work on options, and are being offered players too. One player emerging on their radar is Tammy Abraham – I’m told he is ready to return to the Premier League this summer.

“He has real ambitions to play for England and to do that he needs to be playing, and that is something that Leeds could potentially offer and he would present them with a clear upgrade, in theory. But to get Abraham will not be easy.”

Possible Tammy Abraham price tag already mooted

Abraham is under contract until the summer of 2027, so it gives Roma some bargaining power should they decide to cash in on Abraham during the upcoming summer transfer window.

And the Italian giants paid £34million for the striker and so expect that to be a ballpark figure for any interest club in the summer. Carlton Palmer thinks Abraham could cost as much as £40million, though.

Speaking recently, the former England man explained: “I think he’s a really, really good player, and I think if they could get him into the football club for £30-£40million, it’d be a good bit of business.”

For Leeds, £40million would make Abraham their record signing. But with promotion would come a new and impressive transfer kitty which would certainly need to be put to use to give Farke a side worthy of staying in the Premier League.

Like Bailey says though, Leeds need to make plans early, but they’re somewhat restricted given the fact that the Championship season is still ongoing.
