‘Skilful’… £60m Premier League midfielder thinks Leeds own a player who’s better than Jarrod Bowen

Leeds United currently boast a wealth of depth in their options out wide, both still at the club, and out on loan.

Crysencio Summerville has arguably been the Championship’s stand-out player this season with 15 goals and eight assists already, while Dan James has been an impressive supporting act having scored 10 times, and assisted seven.

In the recent absence of James, Willy Gnonto has been excellent in recent weeks with five goals in six starts. Jaidon Anthony is also a proven performer at this level.

Following relegation from the Premier League, Leeds lost both Luis Sinisterra and Jack Harrison on loan in the summer. The former has since moved to Bournemouth permanently, with the latter coming towards the end of his temporary switch to Everton.

Harrison has had an up and down time of it at Goodison Park with just three goals and three assists so far this season, but that has not stopped one of his teammates Amadou Onana from praising him highly.

Onana was asked to choose from one of Harrison and West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen in a hypothetical XI on EAFC 24, and chose the Leeds loanee ahead of the England international.

Onana was asked: “Jack Harrison or Jarrod Bowen?”

The £60 million midfielder then responded: “I’ll go with Jack, a skilful player, quick as well. I like to play with him, he’s someone who I’m pretty good with, so I’ll go with Jack all day long.”

Of course, Onana was always likely to select one of his current Everton teammates, but this seems a little far-fetched considering the season Bowen has enjoyed. Only Erling Haaland and Mo Salah have scored more goals than him this season, and he could well be on the plane to the EUROs this summer.

However, based on Onana’s decision, hopefully that is an indication that Harrison has done enough to earn himself a permanent move to Everton, as a return to Leeds just does not seem likely.

Leeds have a fresh group of young wingers performing well and if promotion is secured, they would be better off bringing in fresh blood to strengthen, rather than allowing any of the loanees to return.
