Sean Longstaff has arguably been Leeds United’s signing of the summer after five fantastic starts in the Premier League under Daniel Farke.
The £15m signing has been central to Leeds United’s solid start to the Premier League season. Whether that be slamming one into the top corner against Bournemouth, or continuously making big tackles.
Or even calling a huddle together. Longstaff is becoming a leader in this Leeds side already according to Anton Stach, and is now considered one of the first names on the Leeds team sheet after a stunning start.
Longstaff won Leeds’ September Player of the Month award but it could have easily been different. It took Leeds four bids to finally get a £15m deal over the line for Longstaff, an initial £12m plus £3m in add-ons.

Sean Longstaff tells Adam Pope his two summer options
It will come as no surprise to hear that Leeds were not the only side trying to sign Longstaff. He was in the final year of his contract at Newcastle, and The Toon were forced to sell, or risk losing him on a free.
Leeds have got themselves a bargain. But Adam Pope, during an interview with Longstaff on BBC Radio Leeds, asked the Leeds favourite about interest from other clubs. Longstaff said he had two options.
Pope asked: “I know you’ve talked about how much of a wrench it was to leave Newcastle, but Leeds weren’t the only side interested in you. Was the decision quite difficult to decide where to go?”
Longstaff replied: “Yeah, it was. It was always going to take a lot to leave Newcastle. Without diving too deep into it, there were lots of factors going into the decision. I want to play as much football as possible.
“I looked at the different options, I liked the look of Leeds, knew Karl, and he had nothing but good things to say. When it came down to it, it was between Leeds and staying. I made the decision to leave.”

Longstaff loves playing against Burnley in the Premier League
The Premier League is back this weekend and Leeds are preparing for an eighth instalment in their fight against relegation. A trip to Burnley, which sees last season’s automatically promoted sides do battle.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has a great record against Burnley, scoring four goals in his last six Premier League games against The Clarets. But Longstaff has a pretty good record against them as well, in eight games.
