Leeds United get underway in the FA Cup on Saturday, welcoming Yorkshire neighbours Harrogate Town to Elland Road in an evening kick off.
Leeds United will embark on another FA Cup journey on Saturday. It’s been 53 years since the Whites last won the trophy, and nobody is expecting them to lift the oldest trophy in football anytime soon.
Daniel Farke’s side may well be solely focused on earning promotion from the Championship. But a 3-3 draw against Hull City in their last outing, and a draw against Blackburn Rovers in the game before that has seen the likes of Burnley, Sheffield United, and Sunderland catch up.
| 1 | Leeds | 26 | 15 | 8 | 3 | 48 | 19 | 29 | 53 |
| 2 | Burnley | 26 | 14 | 10 | 2 | 31 | 9 | 22 | 52 |
| 3 | Sheffield Utd | 26 | 16 | 6 | 4 | 36 | 17 | 19 | 52 |
| 4 | Sunderland | 26 | 14 | 8 | 4 | 39 | 22 | 17 | 50 |
Saturday’s opponents Harrogate Town, who sit in 21st place of the League Two table, will give Farke a chance to rest some players and try out some lesser-seen ones too. And many will expect Leeds to progress into the fourth round with a routine win against Harrogate.

Sam Byram makes stunning FA Cup prediction at Leeds United
Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds, Whites full-back Sam Byram has given his thoughts on Saturday’s game. The 31-year-old has even revealed that he thinks Leeds could go all the way and win the competition this season.
Byram said: “I’d love to win it. I think if there’s any team in the Championship that can step up with the Premier League teams in a one-off game then I think it’s us that can do something. Everybody wants a cup run. For me and everyone else we want to see how far we can go.”
Leeds last won the FA Cup in 1972 when Don Revie was manager. It was Leeds’ first and only FA Cup win to date.

Sam Byram discusses his Leeds United future
Byram has been a bit of a talking point recently. During the game against Blackburn Rovers, Leeds United fan were critical of Byram, who was dropped for Max Wober in the following game against Hull.
But ahead of the weekend, Byram also discussed his Leeds United future. He said: “I’d love to stay here but it’s not always in control of the player. My aim is to help Leeds get promoted. Whatever comes after that, will come. I’m just focusing on staying fit, and helping Leeds get promoted.”
The Leeds academy graduate is out of contract in the summer. He’s so far featured 21 times in the Championship this season, scoring once and assisting once.
Leeds’ game against Harrogate kicks off at 5:45pm on Saturday and will be available to watch live on BBC via the red button.
