Eintracht Frankfurt director Markus Krosche is now confident of signing Leeds United defender Robin Koch on a long-term deal.

Krosche was speaking in an interview with Sport 1 where he was asked about the potential of signing Koch permanently after his loan spell from Leeds is finished.

Koch was one of eight senior members of last season’s first team squad to depart Elland Road in the summer following Leeds‘ relegation from the Premier League.

So far, it is fair to say those players have had varying degrees of success, though Koch is among those who have performed the strongest at their new club, with Krosche previously praising his impact on Frankfurt’s defence.

Koch is out of contract at Leeds at the end of the season and so his future in West Yorkshire is almost certainly over, though his recent form could spark another battle for his signature.

As per Bild, Frankfurt paid Leeds a loan fee of £420,000 (€500,000) to sign Koch in the summer, while also covering the entirety of his wages.

Not every loan deal involving the aforementioned eight players included a loan fee and so you would imagine that will go some way to ensuring they are in a strong position to sign him permanently.

Krosche said: “We are confident about that. I think the transfer was the right step for both sides. We were able to convince Robin of our club so much that he chose us. With his experience he gives us the stability we need.

“Robin’s experience helps Tuta and Willian. I am confident that we will have a lot of fun with Robin for many years to come.”

Given how well he is seemingly performing it is a little disappointing Leeds will not receive a fee for him. However, at the end of the day, most supporters are likely to be happy to see the back of Koch permanently, along with all the other loan departees.

Frankfurt has seemingly provided him with a decent platform to regain his confidence again, which he seemingly lost at Leeds towards the back end of last season based on the defensive record.
