Leeds United are set to back Daniel Farke significantly in the transfer market this summer.
That is according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, who report Farke will be handed an ‘aggressive wage bill’ on top of ‘sufficient’ transfer funds to aid Leeds’ push for promotion.
Farke was finally officially named as Leeds’ new manager on Tuesday evening ahead of the start of pre-season training with the ball today.
The 46-year-old has already recognised there is plenty of work to do on overhauling the squad this summer, admitting it will likely look a whole lot different at the end of the window, to the one he takes charge of today.
Robin Koch, Brenden Aaronson and Diego Llorente are among those expected to leave this week, with many more expected to follow before Leeds’ Championship opener with Cardiff City on August 6.
Farke to be backed heavily in transfer market
Leeds may not be able to sign players until San Francisco 49ers Enterprises’ takeover is officially ratified by the EFL, who were unable to provide the club with a timeframe on Monday.
But once that does go through as expected, Leeds’ new owners will hand Farke a healthy budget as they target an immediate return to the Premier League.
Farke was able to win the Championship title twice with Norwich City with limited funds, so there should be confidence he can do the same at Elland Road with significant backing.
Leeds know they may have to replace some key players over the course of the summer, but equally are determined to keep the likes of Willy Gnonto, Tyler Adams and Max Wober.
It could be the busiest transfer window seen at Leeds in a long time and there certainly should be an element of excitement as to who comes in.
