Phil Hay shares what the EFL told Leeds about 49ers’ takeover on Monday

The EFL told Leeds United on Monday they still do not have an exact timeframe on when San Francisco 49ers Enterprises’ takeover will be approved.

That is according to Phil Hay of the Athletic, who reports the EFL do not know when Leeds will receive ratification of their buyout, which has now been agreed for almost four weeks.

Leeds confirmed on June 9 that 49ers had reached an agreement with Andrea Radrizzani’s company Aser Ventures over a full purchase of the club.

The Whites were looking to receive EFL approval on that before officially confirming who their next manager would be, but were forced to change that ploy after Monday’s message.

Daniel Farke was finally named as Leeds’ new boss on Tuesday evening, with the first day of actual pre-season training starting to do, meaning they were left with no other choice.

EFL refuse to give Leeds timeframe on 49ers approval

It is clear plenty of work is going on behind-the-scenes at Leeds but the longer this drags on, the more frustration that will build.

Everyone knows that the 49ers are running the club at the moment but they just need that final green light to really get motoring in the summer transfer window.

Leeds will reportedly not make any signings until the takeover is officially ratified, which is not good news given how many could be coming into the club in the coming weeks.

Farke will need plenty of time on the training ground with the players, even saying himself he knows the squad he will be taking charge of today will look different to the one that ends the window.

Hopefully the EFL can get a move on at some point this week and ensure it is ratified so Leeds can begin their business.
