Daniel Farke has shared his verdict on Leeds United’s 3-0 win over Rotherham United.
The Whites eased to a comfortable victory at Elland Road thanks to a controversial opener from Patrick Bamford, as well as a brace from Crysencio Summerville.
The win means Leeds have now won all six of their Championship matches since the turn of the New Year, as they continue to motor towards pushing for those automatic promotion places.
Summerville had been going through a bit of a barren spell in front of goal in the league but was back to his best in the second half today, moving his tally up to 14 for the campaign.
Speaking in his post-match press conference, Farke says Summerville has been working so hard on his finishing in training and believes he deserves so much credit for how he is playing.
Farke heaps praise on Summerville
He said: “I was always 100% sure about his potential and he could deliver. All the credit goes to him because he’s also relentless in training and has worked a lot on his finishing.”
Summerville has undoubtedly been Leeds’ player of the season so far with 21 goal contributions in the Championship, better than anyone could’ve anticipated at this stage.
Particularly in the second half, Rotherham just could not handle Summerville’s pace on the counter-attack, as was evident with the way he latched onto Georginio Rutter’s through ball for his first.
Summerville has been hailed as unplayable by so many pundits this season and another two goals is only going to give him confidence ahead of a busy run of fixtures.
It has to be said that whatever the outcome for Leeds is this season, Summerville will be a Premier League footballer next season. Hopefully that can be with the Whites as we approach the business end.
