Leeds United picked up their first defeat of the Championship campaign on Saturday as Burnley ran out 1-0 winners despite Leeds having plenty of chances to get on the score sheet.
It was a game that saw Jaidon Anthony return to Elland Road, less than three months after his loan in Yorkshire had come to an end. Anthony joked Burnley had “dominated” the game, knowing Leeds had.
While a mistake from Manor Solomon and then Jayden Bogle’s hesitancy allowed Luca Koleosho to score the only goal of the game, Leeds had chances. Tony Dorigo slammed Bogle for not engaging Koleosho.
But regardless of how much possession, how many chances or who should have won the match, Burnley stole all three points in a game that had a fiery atmosphere throughout, not helped by the referee.

Indeed, the referee missed what looked like a potential penalty for Leeds just before the break when Joe Worrall clattered into new signing Manor Solomon. Scott Parker claims he did not think it was a penalty.
It sees Leeds lose their first Championship game having drawn two and won two, ending a run of three consecutive clean sheets as well. New Burnley star Sarmiento came off the bench for the last 26 minutes.
He posted on X following the win over Leeds, in what was only his second outing for Parker’s men since swapping Brighton for Burnley on loan. He said: “Putting the L in Elland Road”.
Back to the drawing board for Farke and Leeds as Cardiff wait
It was a typical performance from Leeds. One Leeds fans have become used to under Farke, where an opposing team slams in a goal on the counter and can then sit back and defend and Leeds struggle.
It happened many times last season. Sunderland, Stoke, Rotherham and other occasions where Leeds would dominate defensively and in midfield, but struggle to open a low block and end up losing.
Farke has got to make a tweak here or there. Bogle perhaps needs taking out of the firing line and a chance given to new signing Isaac Schmidt, while a new balance in midfield might be required.
