Burnley manager Scott Parker has responded when asked if he thinks Leeds United should have had a penalty in the first half of Saturday’s 1-0 win over Daniel Farke’s men.

Burnley boss Parker stole a 1-0 win at Elland Road despite utter domination from Leeds. So much so that Jaidon Anthony joked his side had dominated on Instagram when posting a message to Leeds supporters.

Leeds had their chance and on another day, could have won by two or three goals against Parker’s side on Saturday. Mateo Joseph went through on goal inside a minute, Wilfried Gnonto had chances as well.

But it is a 1-0 defeat and a first loss in the Championship for the Whites this season. Another sign that Leeds perhaps, lacked a no.10 that could go and unlock the door and provide Leeds with an equaliser.

Parker doesn’t think it was a penalty for Manor Solomon incident

Towards the end of the first half, Manor Solomon went down under a clumsy challenge from Joe Worrall. The former Forest captain looked to have got some of the ball, but the challenge came through the back.

Referee James Bell waved play on to the disbelief of some Leeds players including Solomon, himself. After the match, former England captain Parker said he didn’t think it was a penalty for the tackle on Solomon.

“I’m not sitting on the fence. I’ve not seen it. I didn’t think it was in real time to be quite honest with you. In real time, it looks like gets a toe on it. It’d be unfair of me to comment on that,” Parker told the YEP.

What Tony Dorigo thought of Leeds penalty shout during game

While there was contact with the ball, it is the kind of guilty-looking tackle on Solomon that is often given as a penalty. A crucial moment in the match that would have seen Leeds equalise just before half-time.

Former Leeds defender Dorigo was on co-commentary duty for LUTV and he was adamant on 37 minutes that it was a penalty. But of course, it wasn’t the only chance Leeds might have had to score on Saturday.

“That to me, Solomon is in front and Worrall tackles him from behind. It is a foul, it is a penalty. You can’t tackle from behind and when you do something like that, it’s a penalty,” Dorigo said during commentary.
