Leeds United have never approached West Bromwich Albion to speak to Carlos Corberan over the vacant manager position.
That is according to the Athletic, who report the Whites have never asked for permission to speak to Corberan this summer, indicating their attention is currently elsewhere.
Leeds are looking to wrap up the process of hiring a new manager this week, with the final round of interviews taking place in London.
Corberan has already been ruled out of the race, though this latest development suggests he was never a primary target at any point, despite reports stating otherwise.
It is said Leeds are keen to appoint a manager currently out of work, which Corberan, of course, does not fit the bill for, having signed a new deal back in February.
Corberan never approached by Leeds
Leeds’ final shortlist appears to have been narrowed down to three candidates with Daniel Farke, Patrick Vieira and Scott Parker all vying for the role.
All of those three are currently out of work and therefore would not require any compensation, of which Leeds would’ve had to pay West Brom in excess of £2 million had they appointed Corberan.
Farke has been out of work for less than a month after leaving Borussia Monchengladbach in May, while Vieira’s most recent job came at Crystal Palace, where he was sacked in March.
Parker, meanwhile, spent just three months at Club Brugge earlier this year where he was fired after a dismal run of two wins in 12 matches across all competitions.
All three managers fit the bill of what Leeds are currently looking for, though it is certainly Farke who is catching the eye of most fans based on his time at Norwich City.
