The Mail claim Leeds United want to appoint a manager with Premier League experience and that means a move for Carlos Corberan could be ruled out – despite the Spaniard boasting a bargain £2m option in his West Brom contract.
Of course, Corberan was in the Leeds dugout three years ago. Having worked as the club’s Under-21 manager, he was promoted to Marcelo Bielsa’s first-team coaching staff. He left in 2020, to take charge of Huddersfield Town.
Corberan starred in his role, guiding Huddersfield to the 2022 play-off final – losing to Nottingham Forest. A failure of a stint at Olympiakos saw Corberan return to the Championship and join West Brom, where he has impressed.
Winning 17 of his 33 games, it is clear why Leeds have shown interest. He was supposedly one of three managers on the shortlist going into Monday, along with Scott Parker and Daniel Farke. But that has now seemingly changed.

Indeed, it is now believed that Leeds want a manager with Premier League experience. Farke and Parker have it. Corberan, not yet. The Mail say Leeds also want Patrick Vieira. He may have replaced Corberan in the reckoning.
The report states that Leeds are not simply planning for promotion, but want someone that can keep us up when we get there. Perhaps a failure, of the Andrea Radrizzani era. That is where Vieira comes in, and Corberan drops out.
Farke, Vieira and Parker are also all out of work while Corberan is in work. While he would only cost £2m, it is £2m Leeds would not have to spend should they go for one of the three others. As things stand, Corberan will stay.
