Leeds United’s game against Oxford United sprung up few talking points. But the Whites got the job done, and in the end, it was an empathic afternoon for Leeds at Elland Road.
The opening stages of Leeds United’s game against Oxford United certainly wasn’t a classic. Leeds were on top and got an early goal through Dan James, but they weren’t blowing Oxford away.
Leeds United were predicted a 4-0 win and as Oxford United capitulated in the second half, that’s what the scoreline finished as.
Second half goals came from Jayden Bogle, Brenden Aaronson, and Manor Solomon before Daniel Farke made four substitutions in the space of a few minutes.
But Leeds held on for a very convincing win in the end, maintaining their spot in 2nd place of the Championship table but still three points behind Sheffield United who won 2-0 at Cardiff City.
Elsewhere ear the top, Sunderland came from behind to beat Norwich City 2-1, and Burnley beat Watford 2-1 as well.

‘One Paddy Bamford’ chants during first half of Leeds United vs Oxford
During the first half of the game against Oxford, there was an injury break for Joe Rodon, during which Patrick Bamford went for a run down the touchlines.
As he did, there were three Leeds fans chanting ‘One Paddy Bamford’ at the long-serving Leeds United striker, who seemed to enjoy it very much.
Yorkshire Post journalist Stuart Rayner posted on X: “Patrick Bamford very much enjoying three Santas in blue-and-white costumes singing ‘One Paddy Bamford’ as he warms up during a long break for treatment to Joe Rodon.”
The latest on Patrick Bamford’s Leeds United future
It’s no secret that Bamford faces an uncertain future at Elland Road. And ahead of January, it’s been reported that all of Birmingham City, Genoa and Wrexham are interested in Bamford.
But it’s also widely known that Bamford’s Leeds wages are very high and they look set to make his potential exit very tricky.
Speaking before the Oxford game, Farke was asked about Bamford’s future at Leeds, to which he said: “No I’m not aware of any interest, we want all our players to be focused on us right now.”
