Leeds United take on Championship strugglers Oxford United on Saturday. And for the U’s, there could be a new name in the dugout by then.
Leeds United will look for a return to winning ways on Saturday when they welcome a currently-managerless Oxford United side to Elland Road.
Last time out, Leeds were left frustrated after a 1-1 draw at Preston North End in which Mateo Joseph salvaged a late point for the Whites.
The Whites now find themselves in 2nd place of the Championship table and three points behind leaders Sheffield United who travel to Cardiff City on Saturday.
Ahead of the weekend, it’s claimed that Oxford United are in talks with Gary Rowett over their vacant manager’s job after sacking Des Buckingham, who’s won just one in 15 in the Championship.
And what could be Rowett’s first game in charge of the club, will be the first league meeting between Leeds United and Oxford United since the 1989/90 season.

EFL expert drops Leeds United vs Oxford United score prediction
Speaking on the Championship Check-In podcast ahead of the weekend, EFL expert Sam Parkin gave his score prediction for the game.
And he’s expecting something of a whitewash at Elland Road; Leeds have won their last eight home league games and boast the best home record in the Championship right now, whilst 20th place Oxford United have taken just two points on the road all season.
Parkin said: “They’re [Oxford] at a low ebb at the moment. I don’t know exactly who’s going to come in and motivate and inspire and get them organised for this game, so I’m just going to have to go big.
“I’m going to go 4-0 Leeds.”
Leeds United fans unhappy with referee appointment for Oxford clash
The EFL have named James Bell as the referee for the game at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon.
And there’s a few Leeds fans unhappy with the referee appointment for the Oxford United game with Bell being a known Sheffield Wednesday fan.
Fans are also concerned after seeing Bell struggle to officiate a pre-season friendly between Leeds and Valencia last summer, with Leeds’ last two games under Bell being 1-0 defeats.
Leeds certainly need to take advantage of Oxford’s current uncertainty and poor form and claim all three points on Saturday, especially with Sheffield United playing in a winnable fixture of their own.
