Leeds United play host to Ipswich Town on Saturday at Elland Road in what is a massive clash in the race for promotion to the Premier League – and Pascal Struijk has sent a message to fans today.
Struijk has taken to Instagram ahead of this weekend’s outing, perhaps in an attempt to galvanise the club’s support. Leeds certainly need some encouraging, after two poor results in our last two matches.
A loss to Sunderland was following by a draw at home to Coventry, allowing Leicester and Ipswich to extend the gap between the top two – and the play-offs. Leeds are now 10 points behind Ipswich.
A huge 13 behind league leaders Leicester, who continue to shine under the guidance of Enzo Maresca. Struijk, 24, has been excellent for Leeds this season – even captaining Leeds in 11 of his 23 matches.
The Dutch defender took to Instagram on Thursday morning, posting a six-word message to Leeds fans on his story. He states that Saturday is a big game, telling supporters: “Big one coming up on Saturday”.

Pascal Struijk sends message to Leeds fans prior to Ipswich clash
It is huge. Lose, and Leeds will fall 13 points behind the top two – not just Leicester. Win, and the gap then closes to seven points and that will give us confidence going into the second half of the season.
Joe Rodon says he is not concerned, while Ethan Ampadu has also been speaking about the promotion race this season. Both point to the amount of games left, but they will know Saturday is a massive clash.
Leeds are expected to welcome back Junior Firpo but Djed Spence will surely continue on the left of the defence. Sam Byram is still expected to be out, while Jamie Shackleton might be fit to be included.
