Junior Firpo has shared how Leeds United’s support against Swansea City last week left him stunned.
Leeds got back to winning ways after a 1-1 draw at Rotherham United with a 3-1 victory over the Swans in front of a sold-out home end at Elland Road.
Firpo was making just his third appearance of the season before picking up another injury seven days ago, replacing Sam Byram at left-back with around 10 minutes left to play.
Speaking in an interview with Relevo after committing his international future to the Dominican Republic, Firpo shared how he couldn’t believe that the stadium was full, considering the circumstances.
He said: “Of course, it was also the Premier League: I wanted to play there, it’s the best league in the world. Leeds’ locker room is one of the best I’ve ever been to.
“Look, the other day: Wednesday, eight in the afternoon, -3 degrees, the vast majority would have to work the next day… and Elland Road was full. And we just went down, eh.”
Firpo clearly enjoys it at Leeds
Reports from Spain have repeatedly suggested that Firpo is looking way for a way out at Leeds in January, as he looks to return to a top-flight league.
His former club Real Betis have been the most heavily linked with a move for the 27-year-old, who are keen on an initial loan deal, with an option-to-buy at the end of the season.
However, despite enduring such a difficult time at Leeds due to form and injuries, whenever Firpo is talking about Leeds it is always in a positive light.
He spoke of his love for the city in an interview on the Official Leeds United Podcast last month, stating that, the dressing room and Daniel Farke were key reasons as to why he stayed in the summer.
Firpo may well end up moving on in January, but if there is one thing for sure, it is that he is very appreciate of Leeds and the supporters.
