Daniel Farke has confirmed that both Joe Gelhardt and Junior Firpo will miss Saturday’s big clash against Middlesbrough on Saturday at home, with both Leeds United men picking up new injuries.
Leeds go into Saturday’s game against Middlesbrough after getting back to winning ways with a solid 3-1 win over Swansea City on Wednesday night. Michael Carrick’s side picked up a 4-0 win over Preston.
Neither Gelhardt or Firpo started the game, with Joffy failing to make the matchday squad despite his return from a hand injury. Firpo meanwhile, came off the bench, but is now back in the treatment room.
Farke spoke on Friday afternoon in his latest press conference – as per the club’s YouTube channel – stating that Gelhardt and Firpo had picked up knocks. Gelhardt with his hip, Firpo with his hamstring.
“Sadly two players not available for this game Joffy has a hip problem, he will not be in contention and also Firpo, he reported some issues with his hamstring and he has a strain. He is out for three weeks.”

Daniel Farke says Joe Gelhardt and Junior Firpo have new injuries
While it is a blow to lose both players, it does not directly impact the starting XI. Gelhardt has not made the matchday squad for the last seven Championship games. Firpo second choice, behind Sam Byram.
Obviously, having both available would be better – giving Farke options. But it could be a whole lot worse in losing the players that are currently keeping Gelhardt and Firpo out – in Georginio Rutter, or Byram.
Leeds can go within four points of Ipswich with a win on Saturday, if Ipswich lose to Coventry. Leicester, meanwhile, face a very tough trip to West Brom on the weekend – with the Baggies in excellent form.
