Real Betis are planning on signing Leeds United defender Junior Firpo on loan with an option to buy the left-back after he made a return from injury this month – and it is claimed Firpo is ready to leave.
Firpo, 27, started in the last match as Leeds failed to beat Rotherham. It was only his second outing of the season, having come on in the previous match against Plymouth with Sam Byram suffering injury.
The left-back is now on the radar of Betis, where Marc Roca is currently starring. Leeds already have 12 players out on loan, eight of which used the relegation release clause to depart the club temporarily.
It looks like there is a chance Firpo could follow suit. Estadio Deportivo said Betis wanted to sign Firpo last week. Now, Foot Mercato deliver an update – stating it is a loan with an option, and he wants to go.

It looks as if Firpo is to join the long list of players to have left Leeds on loan. Rasmus Kristensen, Diego Llorente, Robin Koch, Roca, Brenden Aaronson, Jack Harrison, Luis Sinisterra and Max Wober all went.
They are the eight to have used the relegation clause. Sam Greenwood, Jack Jenkins, Cody Drameh and Sonny Perkins have gone for game time. You would categorise Firpo in the first list of Leeds players.
Especially, if there is a permanent option in the deal – as Foot Mercato reporter Santi Aouna claims on Twitter, when advertising his article. Firpo of course, played for Betis prior to his move to Barcelona.
It would be a stunning move for Firpo – but a needed one at Betis. Juan Miranda, Betis’ current left-back option, is being linked with Milan and given his deal ends in 2024, expect that move to happen.
