Sky Sports pundit Tom Cairney has likened Georginio Rutter’s first half goal to Dennis Bergkamp in Leeds United’s win over Swansea.
Leeds returned to winning ways this evening as they came from a goal down early on to win 3-1 and earn a big three points.
Both Joel Piroe and Dan James were on the scoresheet against their former side, but it was Rutter’s strike that won the plaudits from Cairney.
The Fulham midfielder was covering the game on Sky Sports’ Gillette Soccer Special, where he spoke of his admiration at Rutter’s goal on the stroke of half time.
The 21-year-old managed to bring down a raking ball over the top from Ethan Ampadu, before holding off the defender and finishing beyond Carl Rushworth.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ live coverage, Cairney claimed that Rutter’s goal was Bergkamp-esque following such a superb first touch.
He said: “Oh my god, what a goal! It’s not quite Bergkamp but it’s a glorious finish. The first touch makes the goal!”
That was a massive moment in both the game, and for Rutter personally as it was the first time he has scored at Elland Road.
Leeds weren’t at their best first half but his goal was a real kick in the teeth for Swansea, allowing Daniel Farke’s side to take control after the break.
Rutter is now on four goals and seven assists for the season after setting up James’ goal in the second half, but this goal will probably feel like the most satisfying moment yet.
