Bradley Johnson blown away by 21-year-old Leeds player during Swansea clash

Bradley Johnson lauded Georginio Rutter after the striker put Leeds United 2-1 up just before half-time against Swansea City, labelling his first touch unbelievable.

Johnson was speaking on BBC Radio Leeds as Daniel Farke’s men came from behind to go into the break leading at Elland Road.

It was Georginio Rutter who gave Leeds the lead right before the interval. Leading up to that stage, it had appeared that Leeds had lost their spark and were waiting for the half-time whistle.

They had done brilliantly to respond from going a goal down inside the first minute. Daniel James’ goal had been ruled out for offside after Georginio fired a ball across the box. And Swansea took full advantage by going down the other end and lobbing Illan Meslier moments later.

Leeds were level shortly after through Joel Piroe. But they needed a bit of magic just before half-time to go in front. And that magic came from Georginio.

The Frenchman latched onto a pass from Ethan Ampadu and brought the ball down with a delicious touch before going through one on one with the goalkeeper.

Georginio made no mistake to bag his fourth league goal of the campaign. And Bradley Johnson suggested that it was a sublime piece of skill from the 21-year-old.

“Ethan Ampadu, what a pass, and then what about Georginio Rutter’s touch, it was unbelievable. He’s done well to hold the defender off and then slot it in,” he told BBC Radio Leeds.

“That’s the first time Leeds have played a long ball over the top, Swansea play a really high line.

“Leeds deserve to go into the break 2-1 up, now they can refresh and go again.”

Frenchman back to his best against Swansea

Georginio, like many others, was not at his best against Rotherham United on Friday night. He was a fitness doubt for the game. And he did seem to tire as the contest went on.

But he was back to stealing the show against the Swans. His touch for the goal was not his only moment of brilliance. And again, his partnerships with the likes of Joel Piroe and Crysencio Summerville continue to get stronger and stronger.

Certainly, his understanding with Summerville is becoming frightening to watch.

And while we may be biased, there cannot be many players across the entire division who are more enjoyable to watch right now than Georginio.
