‘Back to 100%’… Daniel Farke delivers double Leeds United boost ahead of Swansea City clash

Daniel Farke has told Tuesday ‘s press conference that both Georginio Rutter and Liam Cooper will be fit to play against Swansea City on Wednesday night – after coming off at Rotherham United.

Cooper came into the side as a replacement for Pascal Struijk on the night, as he did against Plymouth. Struijk had been forced to go under the knife after a hernia operation – and Cooper impressed, enough.

That is despite Leeds failing to keep clean sheets with Cooper on the pitch against Plymouth and then last Friday. He came off in the latter stages of the 1-1 draw at Rotherham, holding the back of his leg.

Rutter, meanwhile, returned from France U21 duty with an abdominal problem and it is fair to say he did not look his best at Rotherham. He lasted little over an hour, before being taken off by the Leeds boss.

Asked about Rutter and Cooper by media on Tuesday afternoon in his latest press conference – as per the club’s YouTube – Farke responded by saying that both are now fit enough to take on Swansea City.

“It was enough time to recover for all my players. Georginio Rutter is fine, over his injuries. Back to 100%. The same with Liam Cooper. He limped off with cramp, problem in his glutes. He has had enough time.”

Having Rutter fit is enormous. Rutter is the heartbeat of this side, at last in attack. With Cooper, it gives Farke the chance to consider resting Struijk for Saturday – or using Cooper off the bench, as a sub.

Swansea are a good side but not a great one at the moment, winning just one of the last six games. Leeds need to get back to winning ways in order to keep the pressure on both Ipswich and Leicester.
