‘Not looking good’… Bristol City without two more key players vs Leeds United as injury problems mount

Bristol City are set to be without another two key players for their upcoming fixture with Leeds United as their injury problems worsen.

It’s been a wild week of celebration for Leeds United after their promotion back to the Premier League was secured on Easter Monday.

That’s not to mention the Joel Piroe-inspired 6-0 smashing of Stoke City, plans to expand Elland Road moving forward and the 49ers deciding to keep Daniel Farke as manager.

With everything going on, it’s been easy to forget that Leeds will have two more fixtures to compete in this season as they aim to beat Burnley to the Championship title.

One side hoping to join the Whites in the top flight is Bristol City, who can secure their place in the Play-offs with a win over Leeds, though they will already be qualified if Millwall and Middlesbrough fail to win before Monday.

However, the Robins are set to be without key duo Cam Pring and Joe Williams.

Bristol City injury news vs Leeds United

Bristol City manager Liam Manning has revealed he expects to be without defender Pring and midfielder Williams for the trip to Yorkshire.

Pring suffered a hamstring tear in Monday’s defeat to Luton Town and though the injured Williams was on the bench for the game, he didn’t even take part in the warm-up due to a quad injury.

“He’s not looking good, to be honest,” Manning said, via Bristol Live, on Pring.

“We don’t know the seriousness but I can’t see him being involved in the last two, to be honest. But in terms of seriousness, we’ll find out today.”

On Williams, he added: “It’ll be tight again. He’s carrying the same, it flared up a little in the Sunderland game, his quad.

“We did, I think, a half job before of settling it enough where he can play through the pain which, that’s the stage we’re at.

“We’ve got a few who are carrying knocks and bits that need addressing in the summer but obviously, with the position we’re in, everybody’s pushing themselves through the pain. We need that and it speaks volumes in terms of how all in the lads are.”

Bristol are also without long-term absentees Luke McNally and Mark Sykes.

The bulk of Farke’s press conference was spent discussing promotion, the title and his brilliant response to rumours surrounding his Leeds job.

With so much going on, team news didn’t get a mention, which presumably means not much has changed.

Joe Rothwell missed out on the Easter Weekend double header but was initially pencilled in to return against Bristol, so he might be able to wave goodbye to Elland Road ahead of his return to Bournemouth.

Dan James returned to action at Oxford after a hamstring injury but clearly wasn’t fully fit and missed out against Stoke. Even if he is fit to play, it’s hard to see him being risked again.
