‘Never seen anything like it’… Joe Rodon shares what has shocked him after joining Leeds United

Joe Rodon says there is something he has never experienced at his previous clubs at Leeds United.

Rodon moved to Elland Road on a season-long-loan deal from Tottenham Hotspur last summer and has seen his performances go from strength-to-strength the more he has played.

The 26-year-old has had a transformative impact on Leeds’ defence, which has conceded the least amount of goals across the entirety of the Championship, with just 28.

There are growing calls for him to be signed permanently in the summer regardless of the division Leeds are in, and it is now said to be a matter of when, not if, it gets done.

Rodon is now away on international duty with Wales in a week which will prove decisive to their hopes of qualifying for the EUROs this summer, and has been speaking on his season with Leeds.

In a press conference ahead of the semi-final with Glen Kamara’s Finland, Rodon spoke highly regarding everything to do with his time at Leeds, especially the fans, claiming he has never seen anything like it before.

Rodon just continues to offer more signs he wants Leeds move

He said: “I feel confident, probably the best I’ve felt in a long time. I’ve loved every minute of [my loan]. The Leeds fans have been absolutely incredible to me. The atmosphere week in and week out was incredible. Even the away games, I’ve never seen anything like it.

“It’s gone so quick but playing every week is only going to give me more confidence as a player. I feel like I’m in a really good place physically and mentally.”

Rodon has clearly loved his time at Elland Road and continues to offer signs that Leeds is the only place he wants to be long-term, perhaps dropping the biggest hint yet last month.

From the Tottenham side, it also seems very plausible they will be happy to let him go, with three first team centre-backs already on the books and another being eyed in the summer.

Hopefully Rodon and the other three Welsh players from Leeds can enjoy a positive, but injury free week for their country, ready to return and hit the ground running when club football is back.
