‘Might struggle’… Sky Sports pundit tips ‘majestic’ Leeds ace for January exit after watching him vs Swansea

Tom Cairney believes Leeds United may struggle to hold onto Crysencio Summerville in January after watching him against Swansea City.

Summerville produced another excellent display for Leeds on Wednesday night as he provided the assist for Joel Piroe’s equaliser just four minutes into the match.

The 21-year-old is now already up to seven goals and six assists for the season in the Championship, with only Sammie Szmodics and Adam Armstrong having contributed to more.

Cairney was covering Leeds‘ game against the Swans for Sky Sports on Wednesday night, and hailed Summerville’s performance as ‘majestic’.

Summerville is a thorn in pretty much every side’s defence he comes up against at this level, completing five of his eight attempted dribbles in the 80 minutes he was on the pitch.

Leeds have to keep hold of Summerville

Cairney believes that alongside Szmodics, Summerville has been the player of the season so far in the Championship, but thinks Leeds may struggle to keep hold of him.

He said: “Summerville was majestic. I think he’s been the player of the season, maybe him and Szmodics. I tell you what, they might struggle to hold onto him in January, but we’ll see.”

If Leeds want to win promotion, they simply have to keep hold of Summerville, who is just getting better and better week by week.

Leeds rejected a £20 million offer from Burnley in the summer and you would think his value is now even higher following his start to the season.

It is also clear that Summerville is very much enjoying his football at Elland Road and with Daniel Farke having made him such a key part of the squad, sticking around until the summer would surely be for the best.

From Leeds’ perspective, hopefully they know that with promotion in their sights, a return to the Premier League would be worth more than any quick January sale.
