Bradley Johnson has hailed Crysencio Summerville’s display in Leeds United’s win over Swansea City as ‘exceptional’.
Leeds returned to winning ways following last week’s disappointing draw at Rotherham United with a solid 3-1 victory against the Welsh side.
Daniel Farke’s side were forced to come from behind on the night after Jamie Patterson’s second minute goal, and it was Summerville who Johnson believes took the game by the scruff of its neck.
Johnson was speaking after the game on BBC Radio Leeds, claiming that he ‘terrified their defence’ every time he got the ball.
Summerville provided the assist for Joel Piroe’s equaliser against his former club, which allowed Leeds to get back on level terms almost immediately and avoid a nervy night of action.
Summerville continues his fine form
Johnson believes that Summerville was the most dangerous of Leeds’ front four on the night and says the only way Swansea could deal with him was by doubling up.
He said: “Tonight, he was exceptional. In that first-half, the first three times he got the ball, he made something happen. And I said in that first-half, we need to keep getting him on the ball.
“And every time he got the ball, he did something good. He terrified their defence. In the end, they had to have two players come out and mark him. That’s how terrified he made their defence. Yeah, he was the brightest out of all four [attackers].”
Summerville was electric early on in the first half and his assist for Piroe was a perfectly weighted through ball at the ideal time.
He is now up to seven goals and six assists already for Leeds in the Championship, which is reflective of a player who is way too good for the level he is playing at.
If it wasn’t for his moment of brilliance in the first half there is no guarantee that Leeds would’ve been able to get back on level terms do quickly and comeback to earn a big three points.
